         Sardes (Lydian: Sfard) is famous for being the capital of ancient kingdom of Lydia and  being the place where the first golden coin was minted in the history. As a result of archeological excavations, primarily the Arthemis Altar,

Synagogue, Gymnasium and also like gold refinery, shops and little churches 

 along the marbled street, many archeological monuments were found. Sardes Ruins Area is visited frequently also as the place where Sardes Church, one of the seven churches of early ages of Christianity in western Aegean, take place.

Also, the Synagogue located on the north side of İzmir-Ankara highway in Sardes antique city, is one of the oldest of its type in Anatolia.
